No enemy aircraft opposition. Intense and very accurate flak engaged the formation in which aircraft 149 flew. The aircraft was hit by a direct burst of flak in target area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A direct flak hit burst into the cabin and bomb bay doors. The entire aircraft was enveloped in flames with the tail observed falling off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After the fire had started the aircraft dropped about 1000 feet and disintergrated in mid air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
