Warren S. Lutz, eyewitness and Pilot of an aircraft in the same formation, the following is an account of what occurred on 24 April 1944, to aircraft No. 42-31172:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>At approximately 1355 hours, near Augsburg, Germany, Lt. Schwedock was hit by fighters and two engines began to smoke. I observed several chutes.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Source: MACR 4279<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional information: 2nd Lt. Warren S.
