B-17 #43-38545 were damaged on mission to Merseburg, Germany on 21 November 1944. The crew bailed out but #43-38545 still flying, but losing altitude and made a perfect three point landing in a field near Liege, Belgium. An British Officer inspect the B-17 but could not found anyone from the crew.<\/p>\n
Because of this incident, B-17 #43-38545 were known as “Ghost Ship” or “Ghost Fortress”.<\/p>\n
