On 13 April 1943, over Trapani A\/D, Sicily – a B-17F believed to be ship # 42-5248, was seen losing altitude. Ship was under control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ship was last seen immediately off the target in the sea. Six to seven members of crew were seen in dinghy or swimming towards it. Air-Sea Rescue was notified but no personnel were picked up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
