This is neat seeing this page here. I knew Dante DiPietra through his son (who shares the same name) and have had a few conversations with him in the past. He was a very nice man. Dan passed away in September 2013.
May I ask if this was Dante’s crew in the bottom photo?
Back a number of years ago, he spoke to students at Rome Free Academy in Rome NY (where he once lived) about his experience as a Ball Turret Gunner and his experience when S For Sugar was shot down and his experience as a POW in Stalag XVII. Thank you for the B17 crews and all who served in WW2. Without them, this would be a very repressed world.
