B-17 42-5248 Details

On 13 April 1943, over Trapani A/D, Sicily – a B-17F believed to be ship # 42-5248, was seen losing altitude. Ship was under control.

The ship was last seen immediately off the target in the sea. Six to seven members of crew were seen in dinghy or swimming towards it. Air-Sea Rescue was notified but no personnel were picked up.
