Assigned 23BS/5BG [52], transferred 431BS/11BG Hickam Field, HI 14-May-41, took off from Hawaii for Canton 21-Oct-42 with Capt Bill Cherry, Co-pilot: Lt Whittaker, Navigator: Lt De Angelis, Sgt Reynolds, Pvt John Barnes, Sgt Alex*, pass-Col Hans Adamson(inj), pass-Capt Ed Rickenbacker(inj) (9survived, * died after 13 days), but due to navigational error ditched, however crew rescued by USN Kingfisher (aircraft No.52) Missing Air Crew Reports 802 & 900. Never served in the UK
