Delivered Salt Lake with Fred Eaton SAD 30/11/41; Assigned 88RS/7BG [aircraft 29] Hickam, flew into Pearl Harbor during Japanese raid 7/12/41 with Lt Dave Rawls, Lt John Compton, Avn Cdt Bob Jones, S/Sgt Bob Dunn, S/Sgt Wilson Palmer, Sgt Bob Palmer, Sgt Sheldon Beaton, Pfc Abe Francisco; then transferred 30BS/19BG, transferred 40BS & 65BS/43BG; while on test flight for a new flare-dropping mechanism, the device malfunctioned, the flare exploded inside the aircraft which crashed off Yorkey Knob, near Cairns, en route Aus 17/8/42, with Paul M. Lindsay and 30RS CO Maj Dean C.Hoevet, Coy Adams, Steve Androkovich, Bill Chesser, Paul Lindsay, Herman Randall, Art Sorrell, Max Stone, George Hammersmith, Bernard Merker, Ralph Tarod (12 Killed in Service). Written off 31/10/44. Missing Air Crew Report 16404.
