B-17 Flying Fortress B-17 41-2471

Delivered McChord 20/12/41; Assigned 19BG Java 18/1/42 with Strother; transferred 9BS/7BG; crash landed and partially burnt out Jogjakart 8/2/42 and abandoned; found by Japanese after US evacuation from Singosari airfield. It was repaired and flown to Japan for study and training, probably one of three known to have been used by enemy. Painted olive drab all over, red sun emblem covering US markings with Japanese wings logo on tail.
