This was my Uncle’s ship, and there is an error in your information. This ship was assigned to the 562nd squadron of the 388th, not the 560th.

Hi John,
My uncle Phil Andrews was a copilot on Midge. I think this would be the same “Midge” I would love to compare notes with you to confirm my information. Unfortunately, mu uncle is no longer with us.

My Dad Harold Baron was Navigator on Midge for pilot Ray Peeples and co pilot Andrew’s .Midge was absolutely in the 560 squadron, at least from Feb 1944 until the end of the war. I have much memorabilia from my Dad, and attended a 388th BG reunion with him some years ago. I have lots of bombing route photos, diary logs that navigators kept, etc. No question it was the 560th squad during those months.

At least from Feb ‘44 until. the end of the war,Midge WAS in the 560th.My Dad Harold Baron was the navigator during that period and I have loads of documentation, I attended a reunion with him maybe 12 yrs ago.The plane may have very well have been in another squadron as well, but NOTat the time I mentioned. I spent a couple of days speaking with the pilot Ray Peeples, who was friends with my Dad.

Hello John.
I try to find more details of a B-17 crash next to my home town, happened 31. Dec.1944 during a bomb mission to Hamburg.
It looks to me that your uncle´s ship fly next to the B17 of pilot James Ernest Senter that was shootdown and crashed.
Crew: 5KIA /4POW MACR 11242. Crashpoint was not Defzil Netherland. Correct is Beckdorf 30km away from Hamburg.
As far es I know both B17-AC flew next to gether in the high squadron formation during that mission.
Did your Uncle ever told you about what happened that Mission 31. Dec 1944?
Best regards
R.Höper
