My dad flew this ship on most of his missions. The crew named it for him as he was constantly concerned about all things. I believe this ship began service well before “8/4/44”. Could it be “4/8/44”?

Hello Greg,
the date format is from UK (I am in Germany). 8/4/44 here means 8th April 1944.
Cheers

Are your Randy Johnson’s son? If so, my Dad, Bill Jackson, was his co-pilot.

YES!! I am so happy to hear from you, Gerry! I did have a couple emails from your dad years ago. I have been wondering how to contact the children of other crew members. Are you in California?

Greg, the other night I watched a re-run of 12 o’clock high. Thought of you dad and all the time Doug and I talked WW2 with him. Almost wore out his bomber group annual paging through it. Remembers his planes name “Worry Bird”. Googled it and found this site. Amazing! U aware all the dads living in the Neighborhood.
I know if a few. Fun to share with you.
Live in AZ since 2015 however return to Duluth for 3-4 months each summer.
Hope u r fine.

Sorry. Meant to ask if you knew of other WW2 dads in our neighborhood. I’m aware of a few of their military service

Hello families of the Worry Bird.
Do any of you happen to have a sister /relative that was a teacher in Key Largo Fl. ? I was one of her students, in 5th grade me and my friend would spend time reading and researching WW2 and she made us do a power point on the USAF and we mentioned her father (who supposedly was a crewman ) in the presentation.

I know they kept in touch. I did find the son of waist gunner Richard Dreyer. He is a retired policeman in Buffalo, NY. No luck finding anyone else. Glad to be in touch with you.

My Grandfather, Donald C. Wood flew on this plane as a radio operator and gunner. I’m glad to see a site keeping track of these beautiful birds 🙂
