This plane “Flat Foot Floogie” was the borrowed plane that my Dad and crew was shot down in. His original plane, “Smilin’ Through” had been shot up on a previous mission and was under repair. According to records Flat Foot Floogie was shot down a week after the photo was taken.

Flat Foot Floogie is the B-17 in this photograph. https://www.americanairmuseum.com/archive/media/media-458189jpg It has been misidentified as 42-29557 ‘Yankee Gal’.
