While attending an airshow in Indianapolis, Indiana my Uncle Jim Undercoffer aw approached by a man who noticed Jim’s WW2 flight jacket and his name on it. He was asked about any relation with Bill Undercoffer. Responding yes and knowing he was killed but not knowing what happened. The man stated Bill and others bailed from the destroyed B17 and were strafed while parachuting down and shot to pieces. The man stated his survival and one other. Bill had originally started in the RCAF flying until the US entered the war. Both Bill and Jim learned how to fly on the family horse farm in Loveland, Ohio (ValleyView Farms)

My Grandfather was Bob Taylor, Bill Undercoffer’s pilot. He, too, was killed that day on March 11, 1944. The plane was called “Li’l Joan.” I have all of the information about your uncle, and what happened to him that day. Who was it you spoke to? Please reach out whenever you;d like. The two airmen who survived the combat loss of “lil’ Joan” were Lt Stanley Rosoff and my uncle, Marvin K Hoff. I was able to find the ACR on Fold3 several years ago other information including the pilot of the FW109 who shot down the aircraft. I need to search my old files to find what I have. I just thought I’d reach out to see if this is still an active post. There were veteran interviews done with Stan and Marvin. I have a copy of Stan’s interview and have found some information about Marvin’s but haven’t been able to find a copy or archive of his. Just happened to be checking today.
