Ole Tobe was named after a mule that belonged to the family of T/Sgt. Edmond M. Hamic who deployed to England as a member of Harold Johnson’s crew. Edmond was from Shelby County, Alabama and was KIA while crewing aboard a different B-17 on May 29, 1943.

Noticed your note Carl. Hope all is well. Have not done research in a few years. Edmond is still survived by 3 younger brothers, one of whom is 98 and a WWII vet (77th Inf. Div. – Guam).
