B-17 42-3084 Details
Enemy fighters were first encountered 10 minutes before the target at 0901 and continued 25 minutes out to sea at 1000 hours. Enemy aircraft attacked head on or at tail. Subject aircraft assumed lost as a result of these attacks. Heavy, intense, fixed barrage flak was encountered at target covering entire target area.
One engine was on fire on aircraft assumed to be 084. Wheels were down and fighter attacks stopped on the aircraft possibly identified as 084. Aircraft was last sighted at approximately 54°30″N – 10°00″E at 27000 feet.
