Eyewitness Statement
2nd Lt. Milton R. Moore, pilot of aircraft B-17-G 42-31125 was flying number five position in the lead squadron and was stacked high.
After turning at the I. P., Lt Moore was hi t by a direct burst of flak approximatily ten seconds before the bomb release line. The flak burst between the number two engine and the cockpit of his airplane. With his number two engine on fire and the plane apparently out of control, Lt. Moore released his bombs and started to peel out of formation to the left. The plane lost altitude quickly and when last seen, two men bad parachuted from the plane. I did not see the plane break up in air or see it crash.

I have family history information that relative Paul Moody McGill was lost aboard a B-17 that was shot down 12/31/43 at Cognac, France. NFI … he is not listed as crew for this plane.
