My uncle and namesake, Junny O. Jackson was on this aircraft that fateful day. He is buried in the cemetary at East La Porte, NC.

Hi. Did Junny survive? My grandfather was the radio operator, Bill Morris and I know that only two others mad it out (though one was severely injured). I remember my grandpa talking about Junny but I can’t remember if he made it. Grandpa was shot through his right arm and spent the next 10 months or so in a German POW camp. He also was forced to march for weeks in the German winter near the end of the war and was severely malnourished by the end. He made it though. He died in 2011 at age 89. He was a wonderful man despite (or maybe because of) all of it and I still miss him very much.

In the 1946 movie ‘The Best years of Our Lives’ at the end there are numerous B-17s in the junk/recycle yard. One is ‘Round Trip’, the other ‘Lucy Belle’. If Round Trip was destroyed 1944, how could it be in the movie????

i am living in Bernburg(Saale), i like Lost Places and the big airfield is now gone, u only see, you can still see a few remains of a few ruins, The place where he crashed is not far from where I live
