Dear Bonnie,
I have been working for 40 years with Dear Mom 42-30389 who was shot in my village Lummen, Belgium.
I would like to know more about Dear Mom from your window. Do you happen to have a photo of the device, crew?
Do you perhaps also own the MACR 93?
You can find more about the plane that crashed here on my website. To do this, select 94 BG 331BS B17.
I hope to hear from you soon.

Hello Bonnie, My uncle, T/Sgt Arthur Clarence Hiller Engineer/Top Turret (who went by “Clarence”–never “Art”), born 1917 in Victoria TX, was in 42-3219 “Dear Mom” piloted by Robert B Powledge which went MIA about 10AM on 17 July 1943 near Helgoland Is in the North Sea after an aborted raid on the submarine pens at Hamburg. The German pilot who shot them down was one, Erwin Clausen, who was already a famous “Air Ace” from the Russian front at the very beginning on the war in Europe in 1939. After transferring from the Eastern front back to Germany he was MIA/KIA a couple of months later again, over the North Sea, attacking more B-17s. Please Note that MACR (Missing Air Crew Report) 93 was indeed the correct # for Dear Mom 42-3219 (and NOT for Dear Mom 42-30389 mentioned by Rudy Kenis above. B-17 Aircraft nicknames were NEVER UNIQUE to just one plane and were often used on others as well. I was born in 1946 and obviously never knew my uncle but miss him anyway. Please RSVP
