Any information about this group? My Great-Uncle flew on Millie K and went on 25 missions a few months before this group. I was told Klinke wrote a book. I have not been able to get his book yet it is still Unavailable. If there is anyway to share the book let me know. Any other information will be great. Send an email.

I was told Klinke made a book by Frawley’s son. He has contacted me and said it is the “A Determined Heart”-The story of a World War II Pilot and POW. by Linda Dudik, PH.d. Sadly I was not able to buy it yet it is unavailable.. but hoping it will be available again soon.
My email is my last name first name then number 2 (at) gmail hope you can still contact me and I can help you reach out to others.
Stay safe.

Do you have stories and photos information on Millie K? As I mention before my Great-Uncle was on Millie K before your Dad’s flight. It is awesome to get information about these Missions.

My mother was “the” Millie K & my father, Paul J. Kelly was the original pilot. I am sorry I haven’t seen this website before. Coincidentally, my mother died in 2013, on September 28th, the same day this B-17 was both put into service (1943) & shot down (1944). Feel free to contact me.

@Christine Kelly

Thank you for sharing these information
Cheers

Wow this site is fantastic. Thanks to all for sharing their stories in the comments. My uncle was a waist gunner. Don’t know which one though. He told the story of how he was about to board for a mission when his buddy asked if he could go in his place as he needed one more mission to complete his duty tour. My uncle watched as the B 17 crashed on takeoff with no survivors. That haunted him till his death in his 80s. His brother for whom I am named was in the infantry and was killed in Belgium April 1945, right before the end of the war in Europe. My Grandmother never recovered from his loss.
