Delivered Cheyenne 24/1/44;Grenier 23/2/44; Assigned 749BS/457BG [Z] Glatton 4/3/44; Missing in Action Nienburg 5/8/44 with Chas Canfield, Co-pilot: Clarry Ross, Navigator: Warren Suddath, Bombardier: Tom Norton, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Fred Lawyer, Radio Operator: Bill Cain, Ball turret gunner: Julius Smith, Waist gunner: Herb Barte,Tail gunner: Alvie Kirkendall (9 Returned to Duty); en route flak KO’d two engines ditched at sea, but shop broke in half and quickly sunk; all picked up by Danish fishing boat “Erika” and handed over to British boat once in British waters. No MACR. CALAMITY JANE II.
