My father was the Crew Chief assigned to the Ipana Smile and he would talk about the “Old 123”.

My father was Master Sargent John H Fischer who was the Crew Chief on 42-97123 and received the bronze star for Ipana Smile aka Old 123 never having to abort any of it’s 110 missions due to mechanical issues.
