B-17 43-38509 Details

While flying on a mission to Vienna, Austria, I saw aircraft #509 pull out of formation immediately after bombs away, and the pilot, Lt Neuman proceeded to feather # 1 engine. He seemed to be in no other trouble, other than # 1 engine.

Our box was rallying so I rallied with them thinking Lt Neuman would join the formation again. The last time I saw him, he was being tracked by a lot of flak. Lt Neuman in ship #509 failed to join the formation.

1Lt. Oscar Feller
