A friend of mine was center gunner on a B-17 and believe he said they flew 42 missions and the plan was shot up so bad they didn’t think they were going make it home.his name was Dale Renolds. He left his chamel holder in his gunners seat when he left his last mission stamped with D.R on it .He went to an air show at Beal Airbase to see a restored B-17 & it was his plane & they let go aboard and his camel holder was still laying there in gunners seat & he just left it there. My frend Dale has past on now but I will never forget the tears in his eyes when he told me this & he was not an emotional man. this was about 1990 ro 1993. He was a great friend and we worked together for a few years building rock crusher plants in Corning , Calif. Please contact if you know of this B- 17 lesasutfin@gmail.com
