My father Very Lewis was the co-pilot of the Banshee. He eluded capture and was returned to his base in Italy.

My grandfather, Jackson “Jack” Dewey Kiefer was the Bombardier. He was captured and remained in a German prison camp for 13 months, until the war ended. He miraculously made it home.
