The name of the B-17 42-5133 was the Lady Luck. My mother’s brother was the 1st Ltd pilot on this plane Harold P Schirmer. I have a picture of the plane with him

My uncle, John V Lyons, was the tail gunner on the plane that day. I would love to see the photo of the plane. From the research i have done, there seems to be some confusion regarding the planes id number. Do you have any info on this?

Sorry i didn’t see the photo on the top of the page. On some pages, the plane is listed as 42- 5133 and on other pages, the planes is listed as 42-2982. I have a copy of the MACR report and it lists the plane as 42-2982. It’s interesting to see that witness report that they think the plane landed safely after being hit. Although their plane was never found, there are reports that both of the plane numbers listed were returned
