The crash was in the dark in the early hours of 4 May 1943. My Uncle, 21yr old SSgt William F Baumann, Jr was the flight engineer. The Pilot was Lt Robert C. Brown, the lone survivor. All eight other crew-members died. The plane was part of the 436 BS and 331 BG
