Hello ,nice picture,try to find out the history and crew-members on picture.
Rare to me is 30 missions on the side.The B-17 went mia on 25-6-43.
6 days after this picture at bourtange(holland). Any idea,s about the discrepancy?.

Until the DFC was s/d by flak or fighters or combination she was credited for 33 missions. According the combat missions 33 at 22th June 1943 and the 306th bg missions before this particular date this B17 must also flown her 25th mission on the 21 Mai, only 1 mission after the Memphis Belle. At least 3 missions it was the lead ship .

The B-17 didn’t crashed in the Netherlands. It Crashed between Neurhede and Neudersum in Germany. It was very close to the border. There is a sign wich remembers Albert Schwartz. They also wrote an Poam for him. „Du unbekannter Soldat

Als Zeitzeuge vor über sechzig Jahren. habe ich jetzt von der Gruppe IKARUS
deinen Namen erfahren.s
Erst war alles lange vergessen, ich war ja noch so jung, doch es ließ mir keine Ruhe und es trieb mich um was weiß die Familie – ?.

I Live about 8 Kilometers from the crash site. There was a second B17 that crashed close to my house. It was the B-17 42-3023 / Boozeness. That was in Brahe but ist not East Frisia. It was in the Emsland close to Rhede Ems and very close to the „Emslandlager 3 Brual Rhede“

The b17 is in the porrest at the border. i have found a lot of b17 parts there.
