My grandfather’s brother, Alex Turanski from Wilkes Barre, PA was the co-pilot KIA when this B-17 went down.

My great uncle, Gene Martinson from Rolette ND was the Bombardier on this flight. He survived and spent the remainder of the war as a POW. After the war, he spent the remainder of his life back in ND as a crop duster.

My brother, Edward Soden, was the pilot of that flight. I have an interesting letter from Ed, sent to his girlfriend, dated Dec 17, 1944, that describes an emergency landing, if anyone is interested.
