My grandfather’s brother, Alex Turanski from Wilkes Barre, PA was the co-pilot KIA when this B-17 went down.

My great uncle, Gene Martinson from Rolette ND was the Bombardier on this flight. He survived and spent the remainder of the war as a POW. After the war, he spent the remainder of his life back in ND as a crop duster.

My brother, Edward Soden, was the pilot of that flight. I have an interesting letter from Ed, sent to his girlfriend, dated Dec 17, 1944, that describes an emergency landing, if anyone is interested.

Hello Bob, my name is Holger. I just read your comment from 2022. I am investigating about Ed´s plane. Maybe you can give me some details about January 1 1945, if you like. Kind regards, Holger

Mr. Soden, I just came across your reply and am interested in finding out more of what happened to
my great uncle (Alexander Turanski from Wilkes Barre, PA) and his fellow crew members, including your brother. I believe your brother and 2Lt. Turanski are buried adjacent each other in Long Island Nat’l Cemetery . Thanks, Adam Frankelli, Danielsville, PA.

I’m a member of The Gideons International. I recently purchased a WWII Gideons New Testament that belonged to Bill Burlingame. It appears he was holding the Bible on his chest when he died.
