My father Alvin Schuering, the pilot, and his crew survived the crash landing, attempted hanging by local residents and 14 months in POW camp. He stayed in the military for 30 years retiring as a Colonel. After retirement went to law school and worked as an Assistant State Attorney in Dupage County, Illinois. He passed away on June 2, 1990 at the age of 69.
