My Uncle, 2nd Lt Leslie Hauss, survived the evac of Jills Jalopy and safely parachuted to ground…only to be shot by a civilian on ground. I have the documentation of his murder if you require it…including the name of German who murdered him. He was tried for war crimes and died in prison.

My great uncle, Thomas Youmans, was the co-pilot and navigator with Lippert in 1944. My uncle commented that when returning to the states, he was given the option of returning by ship or plane. He chose the ship and never flew again for the rest of his life.
