B-17 42-30457 / Jimmy Boy II Details
Flight Officer Don R. Fisher saw an aircraft believed to be flown by 2nd Lt. Thomas W. Beal, leave formation between Wurzburg [Würzburg] (which was the I.P.) and the target. The aircraft believed to be flown by Lt. Beal crossed under the formation about 2000 to 3000 feet below, heading Northeast. The ship appeared to be well under control. Nine to ten chutes were seen.
This information may or may not correct because the number of the aircraft was not noted. Six aircraft were lost that day by our Group and all planes were not in original position over the target.

Hello
Perhaps we can help each other.
My grandfather, who was 17, lived in Metz in 1943. He saved a pilot from an American bomber that crashed in the city.
It may have been your grandfather’s plane…
Perhaps we could get in touch?
Here’s my email:

My dad, Hubert Moseley, was the co-pilot on this plane. I thought it was shot down closer to Crepe-en-Valios. I do have a picture of the crashed plane. Given some time I could share it with you?

Hello, the Jimmy Boy 2 crashed not far from Crepy en Valois, more precisely between Boissy Fresnoy and Peroy les Gomberies. An uncle of mine saw it crash. I’ve been trying to find the family of these men for a while now. Could you please contact me?
