The following is a correct statement of facts as obtained from the S-2 files for this mission:

B-17F 42-30211 piloted by Capt. John A. Bunch, was seen to be hit by four enemy fighters over the target at Huls, Germany.

The Aircraft was last seen leveled off at 5000 feet after dropping bombs at 0945 hours with the nose and tail destroyed by the attack.

Four to ten chutes were reported to have been seen leaving the ship.
