B-17 42-31830 / Marie Details
Eyewitness Statements from MACR 10355
Missing A/C received two direct hits from A/A fire. #3 engine completely blown off A/C. Right wheel came off also. Side panels above bomb bay and above wings blown off.
When hit missing A/C peeled off to right and went down in moderately steep dive. Appeared to be partially under control. #3 engine nacelle was on fire.
When A/C was hit three objects like bodies seen to go past observing A/C. One was certainly a human body. This was at 27500 and it is possible delayed jumps were made. No parachutes seen.

Sr, my father-in-law was master sgt attached to 2nd strategic depot, 5th air depot group at Abbots Ripton. After going through old family war history found wonderful picture of Marie nose with 31 missions recorded. If any family member of the deceased airman would like a picture, would love to a copy of the photo. I am a vet of the Vietnam era and very much appreciate the unbelievable sacrifices of the 8th Army Air Force. Thank you.

My grand father was Carl Frymoyer. We have very few pictures of him in war or his planes he flew on. I would greatly appreciate if you could get ahold of me. Thank you.
