Delivered delivered at Cheyenne 30-Jan-43; Assigned to 334BS/95BG Dow Field 24-Apr-43 then to England at Alconbury; transferred to 100BG at Thorpe Abbotts 9-Jun-43, transferred 534BS/381BG [GD-M] 15-Jun-43 at Ridgewell; sent to 2SAD, Alconbury 13-Nov-43, returned to Ridgewell 15-Nov-43; Shot down by German fighters on 7-Jan-44 on a mission to bomb the I. G. Farben plant at Ludwigshafen, Germany. All the crew, except Radio Operator SSgt Peter Kucher who was killed in the fighter attack, baled out and the aircraft crashed at Schiffweiler Germany. Tail Gunner Sgt Anthony E Greco was also killed when his parachute failed to open. Flew 12+ missions with the 381st BG. 2KIA 8POW. MACR 1873

Aircraft name misspelled in the heading. ‘Winsome’ had only one ‘n’
