Darwin was my father’s dear friend in the war
they looked out for each other
my father spoke some German and talked them out of killing Darwin after two prior escape attempts
in the end on the last escape he was executed in the last days of the war as recorded in the Nuremberg trials
My father described him as fun loving, a rogue, and very brave
the best Susan
