I’m pretty sure this is the site where my dad an crew crash landed on Dec 26, 1944. His name was Banks Campbell (1st Lt). He was flying right seat that day and the target was Blechammer. They were based at Foggia, Italy. The whole crew survived and was repatriated by the Russian soldiers. Both pilots were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for their actions that day. I have 15-20 photographs taken after the crash landing. One note: Dad always said they came down close to Nagybanya, Romania. one of those photos is of the mayor of that place. Dad told amazing stories about all this that I remember to this day. Hope this helps your research.
