My father was the radio operator on that bomber and actually flew one more mission then needed because he went with a different crew whose radio operator wall ill, his regular crew understandably wanted to keep the whole team together for luck so he flew their last mission and they all survived and where sent home. In my understanding it was the very next crew and mission that took the Stinker down!
