I just spoke with Alf Kramer, Lone Wolfs pilot. He lives in an assisted living residence in Waterville. He’s doing remarkably well for his years. He will turn 100 on 5/23. I took him up on a 17 when he was 95. Thanks to whoever put up this info on Lone Wolf!

Art Swap was my great Uncle. Thanks to your family for helping evade capture. He was transferred to the United States to train other pilots since he had been helped through the French Underground and they couldn’t risk exposing them
He made a career of the military after WWII

Thank you 🙏🏿 he wrote to my grandmother for many years after the war. I believe the family still has the letters… you’re American or German?
I tried to tell the story in this book…

Arthur SWAP came to Aube to visit the people who helped him when he had to evacuate his B17 on September 6, 1943. I have a few photos of this meeting.
I personally wrote the story of the crew’s escape and helped organize a remembrance ceremony in the village where the plane was shot down on September 6, 2023.
I hope to be able to provide information to Art SWAP’s family members.
