My father (T/Sgt. Raul Galindo) was the Radio Operator/ Gunner on the B-17, “Double Trouble” that crash landed on the St. Dizier Raid 4.10. 43. I have images of the crew following the landing. The image above does not appear to be of the crew.
He was also on the Radio Operator/Gunner of the “Bouncing Bitch III”
T/Sgt. Raul Galindo was awarded a Purple Heart, the Air Medal with three (3) Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Last evening, we watched the National Geographic documentary, “Heros of the Sky: The Mighty Eight Air Force.” The documentary was extraordinary and insightful. Not only did it reinforce my belief in my Dad (TSgt Raul Galindo, Radio Operator on B-17 Double Trouble), as my Hero, but made me realize that EVERY person in the 8th was a HERO, especially those that did not return home.
Please let me know how I can get you the photos I have of Double Trouble in Flight and photos taken immediately after the ‘crash’ landing, which show the crew. Please email me directly.
