My dad was the ball turret gunner on this crew. I met nearly everyone of these fine gentlemen over the years – now all gone. Paul Knight and Henry ‘Hank’ McCowan were POWs with my dad in Stallag-Luft 17 – like my uncles.

My dad was Lauren Davis,co-pilot of Big Stoop.
Of the crew of ten, he was one of the lucky six who were not captured by the Germans, and made it to Sweden with the help of the Danish underground.
All ten of the crew did make it back to the U.S. eventually and had reunion(s) in the 1980’s.
Lauren died in 1994, almost 50 years to the day that Big Stoop landed on Bornholm Island.
