The small photo showing the name is definitely not 42-39856. That airplane is a mid production Boeing built F (has the astrodome but still has the flat gun window). Only Boeing had the paint demarcation in line with the pitot. Douglas and Vega broke it on the panel line above the pitot.

Hello Karl,
I totally agree.
The real s/n of ‘Lane Tech Of Chicago’ is still unknown.

The header photo is the starboard side of a Seattle B-17F F-BO below mid-block F-90-BO. With astrodome present, the odds favor being at or above block F-55-BO, however the are lower exceptions
This plane has the just to the pitot mast underside demarcation still has flush cheek position forward, starboard. The cowling demarcations are also of the Seattle pattern.
Recommend 1) removing the upper image, and if necessary, remove the nickname from field and add as comment in the finish remarks.
2) Change the media description of the B-17F-BO accordingly, without a block number or serial number until such is discovered.
