The above were crew members of aircraft no. 42-5058 which failed to return from a mission to St. Nazaire, France on 16 February 1943. The plane was shot down by enemy aircraft at 1112 hours from an altitude of 18000 feet. About 25 miles north of the target, St. Nazaire, France. The right wing started burning when a fire started behind no. 4 engine. As the wing fell off the bomb bay doors and a hatch opened. Only one parachute was seen.
