Statements of Eye-Witness to the loss of B-17F 42-5090
I saw on B-17 turn back from the formation after we were already over the Island. I had just reported enemy fighters at seven o’clock, when the Fortress turned back. I saw the fighters take out after it, approximately eight of them. But they were out of sight in a shot while, so I didn’t see if the Fortress was shot down or not.
Sgt. Edward Trybon
The last time I saw the ship was on out way to home near the coast. There were from five to six fighters after it at that time. That was the last time I saw it. I think it went down to the dock.

I believe Andrew Fecsik is really Andrew Poczik from Columbus, Ohio. He was by wife’s Uncle.

Hello Don, thank for your your comment.
I checked the MACR files and you’re right. It’s Andrew Posczik from Columbus, Ohio.
Thank you for the note 🙂 Otherwise, I never know that.
I have updated his name

The correct spelling is Andrew Poczik. Perhaps it is misspelled in the official records. Thanks for the correction.

Hello Don, thank you. I check the MACR files and his name spelled “Poczik” in the files. Updated his name now. Maybe I did the error before.
