Staff Sgt Jerome Harley, survived the crash and was kept hidden by a French family. He was later captured. Previously feared dead, his mother, who had five sons serving in the War, received a letter saying he was alive in a military hospital and returning home. Unfortunately, he had gone from 180lbs to 85 lbs in the German camp and did not make it home. His body was returned to Brooklyn and he is buried in St. Johns Cemetary.
