B-17 43-38660 Details

‘B-17G 44-38660 piloted by Capt Conover dropped its bombs on target at 11:56, shortly afterwards the squadron ran into Cirrus clouds and dense persistent contrails. When visibility was regained the aircraft had disappeared. The wing aircraft did not see this plane go down. It is possible that this aircraft may have been hit by flak in the Stuttgart area; however, while on the bomb run the aircraft did not seem to be in trouble’. Capt David E Olsson.
