No enemy aircraft opposition. Intense and very accurate flak engaged the formation in which aircraft 149 flew. The aircraft was hit by a direct burst of flak in target area.

A direct flak hit burst into the cabin and bomb bay doors. The entire aircraft was enveloped in flames with the tail observed falling off.

After the fire had started the aircraft dropped about 1000 feet and disintergrated in mid air.
