As far as can be determined, A/C 314 was not damaged by flak or other enemy action, though the Group had just been fired on. Lt. Terry, the pilot, was heard over VHS to say that he had runaway propeller, which he could not feather, The Commend Pilot, Captain G. E. Patching, advised Lt. Terry to jettison the bomb load and keep up with the formation. The missing A/C was seen to turn to the left and drop to 15,000 feet from 20,000 feet. At the lower altitude he was seen to drop the bombs at 5358-0915 and take a heading of 360°, A/C 314 was last seen at 5358-0915 and was under control.
