My father was a lead navigator in the 325th and flew in Little Runt. He is in one of the pictures posted here

I think our fathers flew together on Little Runt. My dad told me of a mission where they had 2 engines shot up and had to be feathered, and 1 additional engine having the accelerator cable cut leaving the engine at 2/3 power. As a result, they fell out of formation and were at risk of the German fighters. They were also losing enough altitude where he thought the crew was going to have the bail out once they got to the English channel. Dad told me that the navigator of the plane found a runway in Belgium that had been taken over by the Allies just three weeks before. So they landed there, were listed as missing in action for a few days before they could repair the plane and fly back to England.

My dad was the pilot of this plane, he is 5th from the left in the back row in the picture above. My sister and I accompanied him in 1985 to the 50th anniversary of the roll out on the B-17 from Boeing. Dad passed in 1999.
