This B17 serial number was used to illustrate the field markings of the 8th AF, 34th BG, 7th BS in the appendix of the book “The Mighty Eighth. A History of the U.S. 8th Army Air Force.”, 1970 US edition. ( this was my father’s unit. 1944-45. )
The illustrations cover all of the field markings of the various 8th units and aircraft.
